14-year-old Girl Testifies in Assault Case




A 14-year-old minor girl, last week Monday testified as third prosecution witness in in an assault trial involving one Abdou Sanyang before Magistrate Pa Modou Njie at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.

The accused person is said to have assaulted one Dawda Barry at Kerr Serign on his mouth and broke his three natural and an artificial teeth causing him actual body harm.

The witness said in her testimony that on the day of the incident, she met the accused person in a shop when she came to buy some things.

She revealed that while the complainant was also buying in the same shop, the accused pushed him hard. The witness said some few minutes later, the accused came back to the shop again and hit the complainant (Dawda Barry) on his face, causing him injury.

She added that the accused left the shop and rides his bicycle away. The witness said she does not know both the complainant and the accused person. She said she has never told the incident to anyone except her mother and the court.

When the accused person asked the witness how many times she saw him hitting the complainant, the witness said two times.

The accused told the witness that everything she said was not true, maintaining that the witness was told about what to say in court before she start testifying but the witness said everything she said in the court was the truth because she has sworn by the Holy Qura’n.

The matter is adjourned to 28th December for continuation.
