ABC Upper Basic School in New Jeshwang recently held a graduation for 59 students at a ceremony held at the school.
Welcoming the gathering, the Coordinator of ABC UBS, Seedy Drammeh, said the day marks another significant milestone in the history of the school, as it witnessed the joint graduation of their Nursery, Lower Basic as well as Upper Basic Schools situated in New Jeshwang.
Drammeh extends special welcome to their friends all the way from Norway call the Butterfly Friends. “This is a charity organization based in Norway, whose main objective is to bring free education and health to the door step of needy Gambians. They also have a free medical health center in New Jeshwang.” he added.
Drammeh maintained that the association under the leadership of Madam Ann is also sponsoring students from different senior schools in the country, noting that they also help the needy people by paying their monthly house rents, feeding and providing clothing for their families.
For his part, Mbye S Gaye, the principal of ABC Upper Basic School, highlighted the numerous achievements registered by the school since inception, saying in the 2015 National Assessment Test (NAT), the school registered eighty-seven 87% pass rate.
According to him, the school since its inception continues to register high pass rate especially in The Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE).
Gaye assured that the school will remain committed in promoting quality education in the country.
Kaddy Jallow, headmistress of ABC Lower Basic School and Madam Ann, proprietress of the Nursery, Lower Basic and Upper Basic Schools, expressed similar sentiments.
Madam Ann thanked the students of the school for their wonderful performance as demonstrated in their 2015/6 GABECE results.
