The Executive Director and the new board members of Action Aid The Gambia yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Vice President and Minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Dr Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy at her office at State House.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the closed-door discussion with the VP, the executive director of the international aid organisation, Omar Badjie said they were at the State House to introduce the new board members to the VP and to inform her about the organisation’s recent change of leadership. “We also renewed our commitment to continue to contribute to the development of the country,” he said.
Ousman Muhammed Cham, the organisation’s new board chairman said Action Aid maintains strong commitment to participate and contribute to the growth and development of the country.
Mr. Cham, who is on a six-year chairmanship of the organisation’s board said their operations are mainly focused on women and youth empowerment, health, education and livelihood development. “These areas are dear to us. Our commitment in helping other organisations in the country has been well commended by the Vice President,” he concluded.
