CRR residents harvest president Jammeh's farms

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

The people of Upper Saloum and Fulladou, on Sunday, November 2nd, embarked on a harvesting exercise on President Jammeh's farms in Upper Saloum and Sare Madi in the Upper Fulladou West District, Central River Region (CRR).

The harvesting exercise, led by Alhagie Ganyie Touray, the governor of CRR and the National Assembly Members of the area, was carried out in different farms where different crops were cultivated.

Speaking at the harvesting ground, Alhagie Ganyie Touray, commended the people of Central River Region for their loyalty to President Jammeh. He opined that no nation could attain its goals if it neglected agriculture, describing it as the backbone of our economy.

Governor Touray hailed President Jammeh for his clarion call for people to go back to the land, arguing that it was the only way Gambia can achieve food self sufficiency.

The National Assembly Member for Upper Fulladu, Muhammadou M5 Jallow, called on the people of Fulladou to learn from the actions of President Jammeh.

The NAM for Upper Saloum, Hon. Sainey Mbye, expressed appreciation to the people of the region for their "tireless efforts."  He urged them to unite and cooperate in the interest of development. He said farming was the only way forward to bringing food self-sufficiency in the country.

Among the speakers were district chiefs, lady councillors and ward councillors.
