A Gamtel security officer on Tuesday testified at the Bundung Magistrates Court in an ongoing murder trial involving Dodou Janneh.

Kawsu Minteh, a brother of the late Sheriff Minteh, who allegedly died of fatal injuries sustained during a raid by the personnel of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, told the court that Yasin Minteh, Murdow Minteh (both appeared as prosecution witnesses) and the late Sheriff Minteh are his young sisters and brother. He went on to confirm to the court that he recognises the accused and recalled the incident on 12th May, 2007, at London Corner.

Mr Minteh, who appeared as the fifth prosecution witness before senior magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, said he was at a friend's at around 9:00 pm, when he heard children calling him to come home, as Sheriff Minteh was been stabbed.

"I rushed to the scene and upon arrival, I found Sheriff Minteh lying on the ground with blood all over his body. I then ask Sheriff Minteh who did this to him but he was not in a position to respond to my question. I then decided to put him on a vehicle and took him to Serrekunda Police Station," he explained.

According to him, on the way to the police station, he again asked Sheriff Minteh the same question and replied that he was stabbed by an "officer of the Police Intervention Unit".

He further told the court that on their arrival at the station, he informed the police that one of their officers stabbed his brother. Afterwards, he added, one police officer was assigned to escort them to the Serrekunda Hospital for treatment. "But Sheriff Minteh passed away and we later proceeded to RVTH Mortuary for postmortem," he said.

Mr Minteh added that he then gave a statement at the Serrekunda Police Station and later received a received the certificate on the outcome of the postmortem conducted on his late brother.

At that juncture, Police Prosecutor Sergeant 772 Samateh tendered the certificate in court and was marked as ID.

The case was then adjourned to March 18 for continuation of the proceedings, while the accused was sent to the Remand Wing of the State Central Prisons at Mile II.
