Sukuta-Moomerland Association is 20

Sukuta Moomerland Circle of Friends Association, last Wednesday celebrated its 20th anniversary at a ceremony held in Sukuta Upper Basic School.

In his welcoming remarks, Sarja Sanneh, principal of Sukuta Upper Basic School, highlighted the association's achievements revolving around infrastructural development, telephone lines, electricity, introduction of information technology in the school, among others. 

He commended their friends from Moomerland for their efforts in the development of Sukuta UBS and expressed hope that their friendship will grow from strength to strength.

For his part, Ousman Mama K. Bojang, chairman of Sukuta Moomerland Circle of Friends Association, described 1989 as the turning point for Sukuta UBS development and progress since it established link with moomerland friends from Germany. Since the formation of this link, he added, there has been considerable achievements in the provision of school and learning materials including the construction of a Kitchen, library, fence, assembly hall, and among other things in the school.

Aolger Schneider, head of Sukuta Moomerland Circle of Friends Association, said his association is a non-profit organisation with the aim of helping children and young people especially in the areas of education and development. He promised to continue supporting Sukuta UBS.

Mr Schneider also presented a cheque for 5,000 Euros to the Sarja Sanneh, principal of the school for the construction of the Sukuta UBS library with 40 jerseys, socks and shorts to Sukuta UBS football team on behalf of their sports club in Moomerland, Germany.

Other speakers include Abdou Badjie, Governor Western Region, Adama Cham, National Assembly member for Kombo North, Omar Ndure, President of Gambia Teachers Union, Lamin K Camara, cluster monitor for Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Lower Basic School, who represented the Regional Directorate (region 2), Momodou Low Cham, Alkalo of Sukuta, among others.
