STATE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT TODAY

President Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh will today, Friday March 28 at 5p.m., open the 2008 Second Legislative year at the National Assembly Chambers in Banjul.

This is in fulfillment of a constitutional requirement. The annual constitutional event will be attended by Vice President Njie-Saidy, secretaries of state, members of the diplomatic community, chiefs and other distinguish personalities.

As one of the biggest events of the National Assembly calendar, the occasion will provide President Yahya Jammeh (GCRG), Commander-In-Chief of The Gambia Armed Forces and the Chief Executive of the Gambian constitution, the opportunity to outline his government's development plans for the year and the achievement of his administration.

During the assembly deliberations, bills and motions will also be presented to the National Assembly for enactment, treaties and agreements will also be ratified.
