Fresh charge for Keita

africa » gambia » bundung
Thursday, April 10, 2008
It was a bit of relief to Bakary Keita, a resident of Nema Kunku, who was allegedly accused of rape, when he reappeared before the Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of Bundung Magistrates' Court Bundung on Monday, 7th of April.

Bakary Keita has bagged a fresh charge following a rape case preferred against him. It was substituted to a lesser charge of a defilement of a girl under the age of 18.

Appearing before Senior Maigstrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, Police Prosecutor Corporal 438 Njie, applied to the court under section 169 that the rape case preferred against Bakary Keita to be substituted to a defilement charge (against the accused).

The police prosecutor corporal application was granted thus brings a sign of relief to the suspect  who is awaiting trial on a lesser charge which can not proceeded due to the absent of the defence lawyer in the court.

Bakary Keita was later granted a bail in the sum of D50,000 with one Gambia surety who must deposit his national ID card at the same time furnish the court about his full reachable contact address.

However, the case was adjourned to allow the accused to take his plea in the present of his lawyer coming 28 April 2008.
