Hawks end first-round with a win

africa » gambia » serrekunda west
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Hawks beat Sea View 1-0 on Sunday at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium to end Division One first-round matches with a much-needed win.

The solitary goal victory which came on the heels of a goalless draw against Ports Authority saw the 2004 FA Cup Champions climb to fifth position on the table with 15 points.

Elsewhere, Samger maintain a three-point lead on the table after a nil-nil draw against Wallidan in their rescheduled match on Saturday at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

Bakau United also drew 1-1 with Armed Forces in another rescheduled match on Friday

Bakau United, Interior as well as Sea View will all hope not to have a repeat of their poor first-round displays come the second round if they are to avoid relegation.

The relegation escapees, Sea View, are just a point better of Bakau United and Interior at the bottom of the 12-team league table.
