Monday, April 21, 2008
One Lamin A Jarju has been appointed the new Alkalo of Sohm village in Kombo East on Thursday, April 17.

Mr Jarjue's appointment came following the sacking of the former Alkalo Momodou Jarju, alais Baringo, who was convicted and sentenced by the Kombo East District Tribunal and subsequently fired as the Alkalo, for his involvement in illegal activities.

Lamin A Jarjue's appointment, which was endorsed by the head Chief of the district, was also endorsed by the elated villagers of Sohm.

Speaking to newsmen last Friday, Alkalo Lamin Jarju who is also a staff at the Jassey Gambia Trust Association said, he will defend the interest of the vilagers at all cost. "I will operate within the confines of the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill will" said the new Alkalo of Sohm.
