Gambians have once again maintained their flair and composure in defending The Gambia's smiling coast of Africa title thus triggering African Heads of State for a visit every other week.

It was the Sierra Leonian President Ernest Koroma a fortnight ago. On Friday President Nino Joao Bernado Vieira of Guinea Bissau also arrived for a four-day visit.

President Vieira was met up on arrival by his host, President  Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh and the top brass of government officials at the Banjul International Airport.

Rousing cheers awaited the visiting Head of State, flanked by his host President  Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, as thousands of Gambians packed the route of the convoy from the Banjul International Airport, panting and yelling with banners, placards and flags of the two countries with different cultural performances via  Lamin - Abuko -West Field, Kairaba Avenue and along Garba Jahumpa Road, the Daily Observer  junction and the the Ocean Bay Hotel.

On day two of his visit, Saturday, President Nino Joao Bernado Vieira,visited the Kharafi farm project in Kafuta, followed by a visit to the Sulayman Junkung Jammeh Hospital in Bwiam, then a visit to Mayork village ASSEC project, and  finally a Presidential Tour of Kanilai with President Jammeh at the wheel.

Accompanied by the Honourable of the National Assembly and Secretaries of State, the visiting Head of State toured the seed and flower gardens at Kafuta, and also saw the hightech cold storage system where potatoes and onions produced on the farm were been prepared for sale locally and for export.

The Kafuta farm manager disclosed to President Vieira that produce from the farm is sold locally and the rest exported to the sub-region.

On arrival at the  Sulayman Junkung Jammeh Hospital in Bwiam, President Joao Bernado Vieira of Guinea Bissau was led on a conducted tour of the hospital by the board Chairman John P. Bojang and Dr Tamsir Mbowe, director of medical services who also doubles as the director general of the Presidential treatment programme.

From the Sulayman Junkung Jammeh Hospital, the visting Head of State proceeded to Mayork Senior Secondary School where construction work have been carried out by the security services engineering company. At Mayork Senior Secondary School, Fatou Lamin Faye, secretary of state for Secondary and Basic Education informed President Vieira that the school will be formally inaugurated in September 2008 and has already enrolled students in Grades ten and eleven.

Then it was on to Kanilai where President Vieira was given a guided tour by His Excellency President Jammeh himself.

Finally, the visitors and the accompanied dignitaries were treated to a late lunch at the excellent Sindola Lodge in Kanilai.
