The Janjangbureh Area Council (JAC) recently handed over two cheques amounting to two hundred and seventy-four thousand and eighty dalasis (D274,080) being their first payment to Gamworks and Armitage Senior School.

Handing over the cheques, Yusupha FM Manneh, the chief executive officer of JAC said, his council had made their first payment of an amount of two hundred and sixty-two thousand and eighty dalasis to Gamworks as part of their counterpart contribution towards the construction of Brikama-ba Market. He added that the other twelve thousand dalasis (D12,000) paid to Armitage Senior School is for scholarship of some needy students.

He then commended Gamworks Public Investment Programme for their unflinching support to the council in its development activities.

Maku Ceesay, chairman of the Janjangbureh Area Council confirmed the total cost of the project noting that it is estimated at five million dalasis and the council should pay ten per cent of the amount to Gamwork. He noted that Brikama-ba has a large catchment area and has been designed to raise the council's income and foster business in Brikama-ba and its environs.

Mr Ceesay then appealed to all tax payers to pay their rates and taxes so that similar projects will be expanded to other areas and settle scholarship arrears to other schools.
