Jammeh: a role model leader

Editor,

On behalf of the central executive of the Youth Movement for Peace and Unity in Africa (YMPUA), we write to wish the President a happy birthday and many more returns.

The celebration of the President's birthday is not ordinary, it goes beyond mere celebration in the sense that he is a role model and an exemplary character worthy of praise and emulation.

Besides, the President has brought about rapid socio-economic development in The Gambia within a short period of time. It is a possibility that within a short period of time, The Gambia will become another Singapore in Africa.

We are greatly inspired by the President's prowess and leadership credentials that we will never hesitate to respond to his call for nation building. The President is really a man of steel and fibre who as far as development is concerned, has set every wheel in motion for development.

As far as development is concerned, The Gambia is placed on sound footing towards the attainment of vision 2020.  We therefore, challenged all Gambians who can see beyond party lines to join this honourable call to duty.

The Gambian people are beginning to understand the President's clarion call for us to go back to the land, because we are aware of the increase in world food prices caused by global economic recession and the introduction of biofuel technology.  That it is high time that The Gambia take agriculture seriously and produce enough rice for domestic use. In this way, we can ensure balance of trade surplus for our economy.

Once again, we pray to the Almighty Allah to grant the President health, long life, more knowledge and wisdom to continue steering the affairs of this great nation. We are blessed to have him as our dear president.

President & Secretary General

YMPUA
