Full name:  Matthew Mendy

Place of birth:  Serrekunda

Playing position: Defender

Previous clubs: Mass Sosseh,  Gamtel,  Albama(US), George Manson (US)

Present club: KFC Uerdingen

Matthew Mendy was born in Serrekunda, in early 80s. He started his club football with Mass Sosseh. After a short, but successful spell with Mass Sosseh, which were at the GFA division one league then, Mendy made a switch to Gamtel FC, where he established himself as one of the club's engines in 2000 season.

From the telecommunication club, Matthew Mendy moved to United States (US), where he starred for Albama FC in 2001. He spent two seasons with Albama before making a move to George Manson in 2003.

In 2004, Mendy moved to KFC Uerdingen in Germany's Oberliga.

While playing an active football with KFC Uerdingen, Matthew as also pursuing a degree in marketing -  a course he completed few years ago.

The utility player formed the bedrock of the Scorpions squad that put up an impressive performance during Ghana 2008 Nations Cup qualifier campaign.

Already a bachelor holder, Mendy is expected to complete his masters degree in International Business and Economics next year, which will make him the first-ever Gambian professional to bag masters in a specialised field.
