Bindiona win international friendly

Wednesday, July 23, 2008
An international football friendly between youths of Bindiona in the southern Senegalese province of Cassamance and Abuko , in Kanifing Municipality ended in favour of the visitors.

The football match which is used as a tool to foster relation in areas of Health, Education, Environment, Agriculture, Youth, Sports and Culture was played on Sunday, at the Abuko Community Field in presence of community leaders from senegal and The Gambia.

The Bindiona side threatened their host with  a 14 minute  left-footed shot from point striker Viex Gassama who picked up pass from team mate Louie Lulu Coly and sent it wide. Abuko replied with Ousman Camara's one on one chance only for the visitors goalie, Baboucar Diallo to flick it for a corner.

Numerous  opportunities  were squandered by both sides with Abuko's Ousman Camara being the culprit few minutes to the end of the first half. After lemon time, Abuko introduced David Gomez, Bakary Kuti Njie, Musa Jallow and Mamadou Jarju for Abdoulie Colley, Omar Jarju, Ousman Camara, and Buba Jammeh to try their luck in breaking in the dead luck. But it was Bindiona's substitution which paid dividend as substitute Ibrahim Ba's first touch of the ball in the 62nd minute culminated into their first and only goal of the game. Substitute Ignas Chabou fired a long range minutes later but his efforts prove futile.

The game ended 1 nil in favour of the visitors who are in The Gambia until Thursday July 24. The kick off was taken by Abuko Ward Councillor Ya Sally Sidibeh Susso.
