GNL back in courtFriday, August 08, 2008 The trial involving the Gambia National Lottery (GNL) and Mr Yunusa Savage, a businessman, yesterday, resumed before Senior Magistrate Kayode Olajubutu of the Banjul Magistrates Court. Mr Yunusa Savage is claiming D424,720, being an unpaid lottery sum he allegedly won with the lottery company on June 8. Mr Savage is also claiming D25,000 for breach of contract between him and the defendant, GNL. Yesterday's sitting was characterised by extensive cross-examination of the plaintiff by the defence counsel, Victoria Andrew. Responding to questions posed by the defence counsel, Mr Savage maintained that he is a regular player of the GNL games. He said he had bought tickets at a cost of D936 at the GNL Headquarters, which he claimed to be of the "CC column ticket" type. According to him, he bought the ticket from a sales clerk at GNL's headquarters. When asked whether he knows about the existence of rules and regulations governing the GNL games, Mr Yunusa Savage responded in the negative, saying this is the first time for him to see the said documents, which were shown to him in the court. The case was adjourned to August 14. Author: by Sanna Jawara | Media Actions |
