Wednesday, September 17, 2008
Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court, yesterday remanded one Omar Sonko at the State Central Prison after finding him guilty on charges of office breaking and stealing, contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

According to count one, the accused, on August 31, 2008, at Kanifing Layout, wilfully and unlawfully broke into the office of one Ousman Jassey and committed a felony.

On count two, the accused, on the same day and place, stole one digital camera valued at D12,000, a cash amount of D11,000, and a plastic bag containing jewellery valued at D100,000, properties of Ousman Jassey and his wife, Koja Touray.

The accused (Sonko) pleaded guilty to both charges.

At that juncture, Police Prosecutor Ceesay applied for a short adjournment to be able to tender some items involved in the case which according to him were not readily available in court.

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake then adjourned the  case to September 25, 2008.
