The embassy of the United States of America in Banjul has announced the arrival of a new Political and Economic assistant in their midst, in the person of Mr Ebrima Manneh, who just took up his appointment.

Until his recent appointment, Mr Manneh served as the acting editor-in-chief of the Daily Observer newspaper. As part of his duties in his new assignment, Mr Manneh is tasked with research and report writing on a variety of political, economic and commercial issues.

The release went on: "With a wealth of experience in the dynamics of community service, especially in youth development work, Mr Manneh has a colourful background in journalism, having undertaken an advanced training program in journalism, jointly conducted by the African Virtual University in Kenya and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the United States, as well as other training programs in communications, leadership, conflict resolution, human rights and management.  

As the former head of the Daily Observer's Editorial Department, Mr Manneh's six-year stay with the paper has enabled him to enhance his understanding of the country's political, economic and social issues".
