Gambia international Omar Koroma earned a pat on the back from his manager after scoring in midweek - but may have to wait a bit longer to start his first Championship match for Norwich City.

 The 18-year-old former Hawks forward, called up recently for Gambia's derby match against Senegal in Dakar on October 11, was on target for Norwich City Reserves in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Colchester at Carrow Road.

"I was pleased OJ scored," Norwich evening news24 quoted manager Glenn Roeder saying. "He could have scored another two or three but at least he was getting in the right positions. It was just nice for him to break his duck and score a goal.

"I think we'll have to be a bit more patient with him. I'm sure come the end of the season he will have played games for us but he is only 18."

Koroma, on a season-long loan from Portsmouth, started the Carling Cup tie at MK Dons and has made three Championship appearances as a substitute, but has not set foot on the pitch for the first team since the 2-2 draw at Cardiff five weeks ago.

His manager said the purpose of the reserve game was to get 90 minutes into the teenager who haven't had 90 minutes for a long while when the needed it.
