Another eventful day for Gilkock

Tuesday, April 14, 2009
The Burfut-based Gilkock Football Academy is gearing up for its second edition of a talent show scheduled for April 25 at the Burfut Lower Basic School, says Sang Mendy Public Relation Officer of the academy.

The event according to Mendy is geared towards evaluating the academy's training programmers. "we organized it last year and it was very successful as it really helped both the coaches and players to see what best they did and where they needed to adjust themselves. On the other hand people who witnessed the event last year were very impressed with the activities as well as the organizational set up so this is why another edition is lined up this year,"  PRO Mendy revealed.

He added that the day will see practical execution of skills by players who will be divided into four groups named after (kabilos) wards within Burfut. Some of the activities will include Basic Technique demonstration, small sided games, six aside football, individual skill etc.

Mendy also revealed that on the event will also be graced by a renowned Gambian  artist Freaky Joe and called on music lovers come out and patronize them. For his part, Buba K Jallow, a senior official of the academy  revealed that Gilkock will, just a few days after the talent show, host a football academy from Ivory Coast (Hall Maker Football Academy).

He called on the general public to come out and be part of April 25 event, which will also witness the publication of a newsletter that will feature the achievements of the academies.
