Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of Brikama court has remanded over 43 accused persons involved in the Babylon arson case.

This development came after the prosecution brought fresh charges against the accused persons. In his ruling, the magistrate said that it was not his intention to send the accused to remand but the offence for which they were charged is unbailable. He said he would do everything possible to expedite the case.

The number of people standing trial was 45. However, upon hearing the pronouncement, two of the accused person collapsed inside the courtroom. This prompted the court to exercise leniency. The two were given bail in the sum of D20,000 each.
