Banjul Pharmaceutical Co. gives to RVTH

Banjul Pharmaceutical Company, one of the oldest and leading Pharmaceutical company in The Gambia last Tuesday handed over gifts worth over seven thousand dalasis to the Paediatric Unit (special care ward) of the Royal Victorial Teaching Hospital (RVTH).

The donated items which comprises of toys was specifically for the children. Speaking at the ceremony, Yolla Hocheimy, wife of Michel Hocheimy, the proprietor of the MFH Groups, reiterated their commitment to assisting the health sector. According to her, the donation is a tradition that they give to the health sector especially the RVTH. She added that, recently, the company donated matresses to Easau Health Centre in the Lower Nuimi District.

Jimmy Olu Coker, Pharmacist at the Banjul Pharmaceutical Company, concored with Madam Hocheimy adding that they also give drugs to rescue the RVTH in the time of emergencies, all geared towards complementing government efforts. For his part, Dr Tamsir Mbowe, the chief medical director of the RVTH and chief medical director of the president's treatment programme, thanked Banjul Pharmaceutical Company for the long standing support towards the RVTH.

According to him, the gesture is a tradition for the fact that for nearly seven years now, the Banjul Pharmaceutical Company has been assisting the RVTH. He repeated President Jammeh's comments that in the attainment of the Mellennium Development Goals, every individual and organisation should come on board and support the health sector.

Babucarr Ngum, the public relations officer of the RVTH equally confirmed that Banjul Pharmaceutical Company have been supporting the RVTH in such kind of donations for the past seven years. He then urged other organisations to emulate the Banjul Pharmaceutical Company.
