Monday, December 22, 2008
Banjul Pharmacy under the MFH Group, last Thursday donated bed sheets, mattresses, curtains, plastic chairs, dust bins, and other items to the Children's ward of the Essau Health Centre in Lower Nuimi.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Baba Njie, the regional health officer thanked Banjul Pharmacy for their benevolent gesture. According to him, they receive referrals from many health centres around the area as they carry out blood transfusion and other operations.  He then said that the Children's ward has now been renamed as  the Banjul Pharmacy ward.

For his part, the chief of Lower Nuimi, Fabakary Nana Sonko expressed his appreciation of the gesture. He assured the donors that the items will be put to good use. The wife of the proprietor of Banjul Pharmacy, Yolla Hocheimy, described Banjul Pharmacy as a leading pharmaceutical provider in The Gambia. According to her, Banjul Pharmacy has been supporting health centres in the country especially the Bansang Hospital, RVTH, and the Essau Health Centre.

Jimmy Olu Coker of Banjul Pharmacy said the items cost around D70,000 and promised that they would help to renovate the centre. Sulayman SF Jammeh, the officer in charge of the facility thanked Banjul Pharmacy for coming to their aid and urged them to keep helping the centre, since it is the major health centre in the region.
