The Brikama Area Council (BAC) and the Christian Children's Fund (CCF) last Saturday made benevolent donations of money amounting to one hundred and sixty thousand dalasis to the Western Region local organising committee of the 2008 biennial National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) at a presentation ceremony held at the office of the Western Region governor in Brikama.

The Council gave one-hundred thousand dalasis while CCF gave sixty-thousand dalasis as their contribution towards the participation of the region's delegates.

Sunkari Badjie, chairman of The Brikama Area Council, speaking at the presentation ceremony reaffirmed his council's continued support for the young people of the region. The youth, he said, are important stakeholders in development. Eustace Kassel, national director of CCF International, noted that they owe an obligation to the young people to render them their support.

He urged the Western Region Local organising committee to make the best use of the money. Lamin J Gasssama, vice chairperson of the Western Region Youth Committee, in receiving the donations thanked the two institutions for their unflinching support for the young people.

For Lamin Sanneh, governor of Western Region, the donations were a clear manifestation of the two institutions' concern for the success of the young people of the region.

He thanked the donors for the gesture and urged the youth to properly utilise the money. The chief executive officer of the council, Momodou Jallow, also made similar statements.
