Detective testifies in assault case

One Lamin Jammeh, on Tuesday, appeared before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court, charged with assault.

Giving his evidence, Ousainou Jawara, a C.I.D officer, told the court that in the month of   January 2009, while he was on duty at Serrekunda Traffic Annex that one officer, OC Jawo,  called  to inform him that Lamin Jammeh had assaulted a police officer and he was at large.

According to him, he took a picture of the accused and then mounted his investigation. Jawara further told the court that during his investigation, he received a telephone call from an informant that the accused was at home. He narrated that upon his arrival in Serrekunda London Corner, he entered the compound of the accused and found out that his house was locked.

According to him, he managed to open the door of the accused and entered the house. He added that he found the accused in the said house, arrested him, and took him to the Serrekunda Police Station where a cautionary statement was obtained from him.
