Governor Touray visits Lebba LBS

africa
Thursday, January 15, 2009
The Governor of Central River Region, Alhagie Ganyie Touray, last Monday visited Lebba Lower Basic School in the Upper Saloum District, Central River Region North.

The school was constructed by the community in the area in  a tesito based project.Groupe Juboo, a community based organisation in the area, donated thirteen packets of corrugated iron sheets to the school.

Receiving the governor's delegation at the school, the head teacher of the school, Kemo Kinteh, gave a brief history of the school. According to him, the school was opened in 2008 with an enrolment of 165 students, out of which, 102 are girls and the rest are boys. He highlighted some constrains the school is facing and appealed to the governor for assistance.

In response, Governor Ganyie Touray, commended the staff for their dedication and hard work and assured them of his support. He further spoke at length on the importance of education, noting that  without education there won't be any development.  He hailed Groupe Juboo for their humanitarian assistance for  the people of Saloum.

Hon. Sainey Mbye, National Assembly member of the area, called on his people to make the best use of the school.  He said education is one of the basic rights of a child, and that  it is a key component in nation building.
