The community health center of Jarra Jappineh in the Jarra Central, Lower River Region, recently benefited a donation of medical items worth over three hundred and fifty thousand dalasi  from a British philanthropist, Lady Kira Dalton.

The donated drugs which included Magnesium trisected tabs, salbutamol syrup, Quinine bisulphate tabs, oral dehydration salts, chlorampehicol drops, vaccines, skin creams etc, were presented to the Momodou Soma Jobe, the governor of the Lower River Region at a ceremony held in the Village. According to information gathered by the Daily Observer, the philanthropist is also funding the fencing of the new health center that is already renovated and furnished, with staff and doctor's quarters. She is also said to be currently providing salaries for seven staff of the health center for a period of one year. The total cost of the project is estimated at US$50,000.

Handing over the drugs to the beneficiaries, Lady Kira Dalton, the donor, called on the people to work extra hard for the sustainability of the new health center. She expressed hope that the facility will reduce the burden of people traveling to Jarra Soma for medical treatment. Dalton then commended her partners for their efforts. Receiving the donated items, Governor Momodou Soma Jobe of LRR, described the donation as timely and relevant. He thanked Lady Dalton for complimenting the efforts of government in the health sector. The LRR governor then called for collaborative efforts and the efficient handling of the affairs of the new health center for effective service delivery. He assured the donor of his office's resolve to make the project sustainable.

For his part, Fanding Manjang, interim Board Chairman for the health center, underscored the essence of the new health facility to Jappineh and its environs. He said the health center is expected to cater for the health needs of thousands of people in Jarra Central. Alhagie Bakary Dampha, chief of Jarra Central, expressed delight for the donation and promised that the drugs will be adequately utilised. Bakary Sanneh, coordinator of the new health center, chaired the ceremony.
