Man joins girlfriend in prison

The Brikama Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh, has given an order for one Lamin Ceesay to join Astu Jallow - his girlfriend - in Mile 2 until next Tuesday.

Magistrate Jammeh's order came following the duo's fracas in the Titanic Bar in Brikama resulting to Lamin Ceesay sustaining serious injury on his face. In a pre-trial session the accused told the court that she assaulted Lamin with a bottle on basis of self defense, noting that she has been in love with the complainant for the past three years and that Lamin has been subjecting her to all forms of harassment.

When the court asked Lamin what he had to say about the allegations made against him by his girl friend, he could not give a convincing reason. Sergeant Samura represented the IGP at the trial.
