africa » gambia
Wednesday, December 03, 2008
At least five hundred people from Niani Sukuta and Kayai in the Niani District, Central River Region North last weekend participated in the maintenance of the seven kilometre road linking the two villages which was seriously damaged by heavy down pour during the rainy season.

Addressing the villagers at the grounds, the Alkalo of Sukuta, Mr Jay Jay Kanteh, thanked the youth for their active participation. He called on them to participate in national development as they are the backbone of the country.

He further spoke at length on the importance of this road which link the two villages. The Alkali of Kayai, Muhammed Touray commended the regional agricultural coordinator for helping them with a tractor and all those who have contributed to the success of the work.

He appealed to government to help them to construct the road which  links them with the health facility at Kuntaur.
