Ous Jallow: Team success is the key

Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Although the Gambia international Ousman Jallow is delighted to be finding the back of the net for his Danish club Brondby FC, the former Alain striker seems to be more particular about team success than individual success.

Jallow again showed to his Brondby boss Kent Nielsen that he is not mend for the bench with a man of the match and match winning performance against Aalborg on Thursday in the Danish Super League. After the victory of FC Copenhagen on Wednesday at Sonderjylland, the yellow and blue knew they must to win at home a day later to keep up the pace at the top.

The former Wallidan ace partnered Alexander Fernerud in place of the suspended Mortem Duncan Rasmussen and scored in the 41st minute before he released Jan Kristiansen in the 82nd minute in the 2-0 win. Jallow capitalised on an Aalborg defensive mistake by intercepting a Lunds's back pass to his goalkeeper before he rounded up the keeper and tapped in his 10th goal of the season.

The game though was separated by that Jallow's 41st minute goal until in the 82nd minute when he was again instrumental in the winning goal. He beat past his marker on the left side of the Aalborg defense and squared the ball for Jan Kristiansen to make it 2-0.

After the game, the big smiling Gambian goal poacher met the press and although he was very happy with his efforts, he believed team effort was the key to the victory. "I am glad with the goal, especially because I wasted a good chance just before" the smiling Jallow said. "As a striker you are always happy to score, but team success is more important than the individual player's success" "I do my best for the team and the fans, but I also play in a team where everyone works hard for each other, and thus we make each other better.

"In Brondby, players are fighting hard in all the training sessions so there is a competition for a place in the team, but it is better if the team continues to be a winning side. "We won again today and if we continue to win is all that matters, but having said so, I commend everyone in the team for an excellent job, where everyone gave everything they had in them" Ous concluded.
