The contractual killing story Gambians woke up to yesterday is awfully distressing, for it has with it a disappointingly disgraceful image of the country and its disciplined and peace-loving people.

God knows this is not Gambian at all as it has absolutely no place in this kind of society of ours.

Although the police, as it stand, does not have enough evidence yet to establish the veracity of the saga, it remains a worrisome case that deserve the attention of every peace minded person, be you Gambian or not.

Of course we know we do not need to tell the police how to go about their business, because we have seen what good work they are doing, but just to give them the supportive encouragement they need to accomplish the duty they owe to Gambians, we feel obliged to discuss the matter.

As we have always been saying, it is the responsibility of every Gambian, including all non-Gambians living in The Gambia, to see to it that the culprit of this alleged intention are brought to book.  And as has already been said, the police are doing their work fine. This is demonstrated in the fact that they were able to get this far in the first place in establishing the case, up to arresting a principle party to the case.

But we understood also that the alleged sponsor of the aborted evil project is at large, so this makes it a daunting task for all, as he must be tracked down and dealt with accordingly. Such implements are poisonous to society, and their presence anywhere poses potential catastrophe on such society.
