Editor,

I have never felt so much proud of being a Gambian citizen as at that moment when our beloved president and his colleagues made that brave move on July 22nd 1994, to change the destiny of our beloved country. That day is a very important day for every patriotic Gambian.

Our dear president heard our cries for help and he definitely came to our rescue, and  since he took over the mantle of leadership of the country, it has been a much better place to live in. He has provided us with more schools, hospitals, good roads, free education, numerous scholarships, and the list goes on and on. President Jammeh's leadership style has over the years taught us how to be self-sufficient, especially in areas dealing with food, education and health. His vision for the country and Africa as a whole is phenomenal. With regards to The Gambia, if we do listen and work with him, the country will definitely be a force to be reckoned with.

We need leaders like him in Africa in order to reach higher heights, gain recognition and be respected. I am a Gambian citizen living in the UK, but I got to say that every single time I go home to The Gambia there is always a number of things out there that put a big smile on my face and make me feel proud.

Seeing how my beloved president is toiling day and night to make life easy and manageable for every Gambian citizen regardless of their religious background, etc, gives me the zeal to want to do more for my country in the best way that I can, because I do strongly believe that for the president's vision to be accomplished, all Gambians need to work with him and not against him.

We are all destined to benefit from the accomplishment of that vision. Let us continue to pray for him because he has made us all proud today. Long live President Jammeh.
