Another shocking and heartbreaking scenario occurred again at the Serekunda market as the market experienced yet another fire outbreak ravaged the market on Saturday.

The fire started around 3:00 am in the morning. The cause of the outbreak is still as yet to be ascertained. During an interview with Yankuba Colley, the mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council, who visited the scene, he said he was called around 3:30am and told that the Serrekunda market was on fire.

He added that an investigation is on to determine the level of destruction and the causes of the fire outbreak. Mayor Colley also expresses his sympathy for the poor vendors who lost all their goods as they will be affected most. According to him, all the security heads were at the incident as well as the SoS for interior.
