Tuesday, March 17, 2009
In what can be described as an illustration of laudable initiative, the Gambia and Avon fire Services in partnership (GAFSIP) recently donated wheelchairs, working sticks, toilet seats, sewing materials, stationary materials and Bibles to different schools, organisation and vocational centres at a presentation ceremony held at the Gambia fire and rescue services headquarters in Banjul.

A good number of schools, vocational centres and organisations benefited from this gesture that is geared towards improving the working conditions of their respective students. The beneficiairies included St Charles Lwanga Lower Basic School, Tanjie Pre-nursery Community Centre, Tanjie Lower Basic School, St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church, Jurunku community (NBR), the Gambia Association of Physically Disabled, Fire Fighters Wives Association, Sima Vocational Training Centre, Kingston Nursery School and Gertrude Workshop.
