Tuesday, March 03, 2009
Gamsaints, a student body created to foster a cordial relationship between the Gambia Senior Secondary School, St. Augustine's Senior Secondary School and St. Joseph Senior Secondary School, last Friday held a peace football match at St. Augustine's Senior Secondary School.

Speaking to Top Class columnist, Denis T. Gomez, assistant secretary of Gamsaints, disclosed that Gamsaints was formed in 2001 and was officially registered in 2007. He added that they have their own account and the money was given to them by the president, HE Professor Dr Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh.

According to him, there was a lack of communication between the three schools, which was why Gamsaints was hitherto not effective. A delegation was sent around to visit the principals of the three schools in order to make the association more effective. "I am appealing to my fellow students to keep the peace because we want to strengthen and extend the cordial relationship to other schools. We want them to emulate us, and to always remind them that in any competition, there most be  a winner and a loser but peace should be maintained," he emphasised.

For his part, Samba Baldeh, of Gambia Senior Secondary School, added that they are not going to compromise with those who create problems between the three schools. He urged his colleagues to follow the rules and regulations of the association. "I am appealing to the government and institutions to come and assist the association so that we will achieve what we are aiming for," he concluded.
