The Foreign Affairs minister of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nehayan, last Saturday evening arrived in The Gambia for a two-day working visit.

Accompanied by a high powered delegation, Minister Al-Nehayan was received on arrival at the Banjul International Airport by the secretary of state for Works, Construction and Infrastructure, Lamin Bojan, and other senior government officials. In a short interview with reporters, the UAE chief diplomat revealed that his mission in the country was to explore investment opportunities with his Gambian counterpart.

Shortly after his arrival in the country,  Sheikh Abdullah called on the vice president and secretary of state for Women's Affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy at State House in Banul. Present at that bilateral meeting were a good number of secretaries of state, and other senior government officials as well as members of the visiting delegation from UAE. The United Arab Emirates' chief diplomat was later in the evening hosted to a dinner by Vice President Njie-Saidy at the the Cocoa Ocean Hotel in Bijilo.

Prior to the meeting with The Gambia's vice president, Foreign Affairs Minister Al-Nehayan visited the Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care Clinic in Kanifing, where he inspected some facilities of the clinic. He departed Banjul for his country yesterday morning, seen off by secretaries of state and other senior government officials.
