Her Excellency Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and secretary of state for Women's Affairs, last Wednesday, received two visiting teachers from St Mary Magdalene Academy, in her office at State House, Banjul.

Liz Stanley and Donna Critcher also teach at the Institute of Education in London. They are in The Gambia to explore the possibility of forging links between schools in The Gambia and UK.

They told reporters, shortly after having audience with the Gambia's vice president, that their mission to her office was meant to discuss issues surrounding their mission. Liz Stanley indicated that the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP) is set to be tasked with helping to facilitate possible exchange visits between Gambians students and their UK counterparts.

In addition, disclosed Donna Critcher, they will seek scholarship opportunities for Gambian students from government institutions and the private sector in the UK. This, they hope, will help improve the standard of schools in the country, especially schools in the rural areas.

The duo was accompanied to State House by Sulayman Badjie, Ardy Sarge and Bai Matarr Drammeh, all board members of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace.
