Tuesday, December 30, 2008
Gamswiss, a Swiss-Gambia charitable organisation recently handed over twenty thousand dalasis  to the principal of Janjangbureh Upper Basic School in CRR for the sponsorship of ten needy students at a ceremony held at the school grounds.

Handing over the money, Daniel Gomez of St Peters Lower Basic School and coordinator, expressed his counterpart's desire to help the needy and poor students of The Gambia so as to attain quality education under the conducive environment created by the present governemnt.

Receiving the money on behalf of the school, the Principal of the school, Michael Hamadi Secka said that such benevolent gestures would surely quicken the process of bridging the learning gaps between students in the urban areas and that of the rural areas.

He said the money would be used to buy uniforms, examinations fee, school fees, practical fee for Art and Craft students.  Mr Secka urged them to make best use of this rare chance and appealed to parents to monitor their children at home so that they can seriously take up their home works so as to maintain their scholarship since it is based on merit.
