12 NRP supporters appear in court

The 12 supporters of the National Reconciliation Party (NRP) from Upper Saloum who were arrested by the police on March 29th, 2012 and charged,yesterday appeared before the CRR traveling magistrate Pa Ousman Jabang at the Bansang Magistrate Court in CRR.
The accused persons - Dullo Bah, Samba Bah, Musa Sallah, Musa Bah, Amat Sallah, Sheikh Sowe, Pa Komma, Musa Ceesay, Abdoulie Njai, Demba Bah, Alhagie Bah, and Samba I. Bah.
Statement of offence on count one stated that the accused persons incited violence contrary to Section 26 (A) of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Volume 111 laws of The Gambia 1990.
According to the first particulars of offence, on or about the 1st day of March 2012 at Kerr Sait Village, in the Upper Saloum District, the accused persons unlawfully gathered at the Gambian border with intent to commit an offence.
Count two stated that the accused persons were going armed in public contrary to Section 79 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Volume 111 laws of The Gambia 1990.
The particulars of the offence stated that accused persons on or about the 29th day of March 2012 at Kerr Sait Village, in the Upper Saloum District, jointly and unlawfully armed themselves with cutlasses, knives and axes in a public place thereby causing terror to the public.
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they all pleaded not guilty and were granted bail at a sum of eight hundred dalasi D800, 00 with Gambian Sureties.
