15 YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF SCANAID ORGANISATION IN THE GAMBIA

Scanaid Nursery, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in partnership with their donors Scanaid Organization in Norway, last Thursday celebrated their 15 years of existence in The Gambia , at a colorful ceremony held at the school premises in Brufut.

The 3 days celebration started on Thursday with formal opening ceremony after which there was a football match.Prior to the day, on Wednesday a march pass from WestField to Africell by the staff and students of Scanaid, ex-students, Village Development Committee and members of Scanaid International Norway was orgnised.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mariama Baldeh, the Principal of Scaniad Senior Secondary School (SSSS) said, fifteen years is not 15 months, noting that these are years of strife from nursery to senior school.

According to her, Scanaid Organization has done a lot for their children in The  Gambia, especially the children of Brufut. Scanaid, she said has provided education at all levels, nursery to tertiary institution, medical facilities for both staff and students, feeding progammes and sponsorship.

Principal Baldeh, further thanked Ernand Knut Eng, the chief donor, as their good gestures remain evergreen in their memories. "To Jocgen Bredesen, Anfine and Dr. Lenrie Peters, the propellers of this laudable project in the Gambia, we owe you millions of thanks and to all sponsors we say; to every cheerful giver, there is heavenly reward as quoted in the Holy books." she  concluded.

For her part, Terema Njie Sanneh, the Principal, Scanaid Nursery School, also thanked Scanaid for their gesture. Lamin K. Camara Cluster Monitor representing the Director of Region 2, said  when the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education gave approval for the establishment of a Senior Secondary School by Scanaid in Brufut, the Department told the organization that it is hoped that in future they would also provide other avenues to the community's request.

Jorgen Bardesen, the Chairman of Scanaid also spoke at the ceremony. According to him, Scanaid school is among the best schools in the country and every year is huge improvement in the school.
