2 world leaders, others felicitate President Jammeh on Ramadan

The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya continues to receive more Ramadan messages from world leaders and individuals across the world on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The latest messages came from Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco; Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, the president of the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria; Mrs Sia Nyama Koroma, the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone; Bala Garba-Jahumpa, the Gambian ambassador to Venezuela and one Gibou M. Jagne of Serrekunda.  

The messages read:
As the Muslim Ummah prepares to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan, with the humility and profound devotion that befits the occasion, it gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency. I also send my best wishes to you for good health and happiness, and to your people for further progress and prosperity, under your wise leadership.

A special time of devotion, repentance and generosity, the Holy Month of Ramadan reminds us of the solid bonds of brotherhood uniting Muslims around the world and of the duty to strengthen Inter-Islamic cooperation and solidarity. It also calls upon us to close ranks, undertake constructive action, improve the Ummah's conditions and have hope and confidence in our peoples, so that we may promote mutual assistance and righteousness, and enhance the status of our Ummah as well as its contributions to human civilization and global peace.

May Almighty God guide the steps of Muslim people and leaders, grant them success and help them uphold to Islam, which are based not only on honoring mankind, but also on promoting moderation, tolerance and inter-faith, inter-cultural coexistence.

You Excellency, the story of our life is inextricably linked with the story of the progress of the Gambia as a nation of people with pride and dignity. Under your wise and guided leadership The Gambia continues to stride in peace and stability, the economy continues to grow in all sectors and areas. With the widespread of quality services in education, health, water, roads & transportation, telecommunication and electricity to name just a few, every well meaning Gambians is a witness to the sheer ease of life and happiness that your reign has blessed us with.

As a politician who participated actively in the development dialogue and process of The Gambia from the early days of the first Republic to the present, I am a living witness to the massive transformation of our dear country into the greatness that it is today.  To us the elderly and to all citizens, you a great son of the Gambia, a source of pride and a shining light for the younger generation to emulate.

I wish to conclude by re-affirming my unfettered loyalty and continued support to your Excellency, your government and all your progressive policies in the interest of the future of our dear country.
