Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh of the Banjul Magistrates' Court, yesterday adjourned the criminal case, filed by the state against Mr Willy Joof, former Permanent Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs , to October 31st, 2007, due to the absence of both the Prosecution and the Defence Counsel.

When the case was called, the accused informed the court that his Counsel was on his way to the court, while the prosecution was indisposed.

It could be recalled that Mr Joof after his sacking, was subsequently arrested, detained and charged for official corruption, following a petition against him with regards to administrative matters, contrary to the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.

Mr Joof denied the charges and was subsequently granted bail, to a sum of D300,000, with one Gambian surety who must deposit a tittle deed to the court.
