Sunday, November 04, 2007

Fixtures for the Gambia Football Association sponsored Super Nawettan tournament have been released. The tournament, which will bring together eight recognised nawettan zones, will kick-off on November 14, and ends on December 2, 2007.

The eight nawettan zones have been grouped into two groups of four. The defending champions, Serrekunda East, have been paired in Group A, alongside 2005 champions Sukuta, Bakau and Banjul. Group B features the last year's runners-up Brikama, alongside Gunjur, Lamin and Serrekunda West.2

In the opening matches on Wednesday, November 14, Serrekunda East will square-up against Sukuta, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Bakau face the arch-rivals Banjul, at the East Mini-stadium on the same day.

On Thursday, November 15, Brikama, will take on Gunjur in their Group B encounter at West Mini-stadium, on the same when Lamin and Serrekunda West lock horns at the East Mini-stadium.

The organisers have this year vowed to stage one of the most competitive and successful tournaments in the history of super nawettan competitions, with lucrative prizes awaiting the Most Disciplined Zone, the Golden Boot Winner and the Best Player of the tournament.

The winner will receive a giant trophy and a cash prize of D25,000, while the runner-up will bag D15,000.
A consolation prize of D6,000 will go to the remaining six zones. In addition, each zone will receive a preparatory cost of D4,000.
