GTBank appoints Western Union sub-agent

africa » gambia
Tuesday, December 18, 2007
Guaranty Trust Bank - Gambia Ltd, one of the leading institutions in the country's booming financial sector, has appointed five (5) sub-agents for its Western Union transactions. The formal adoption of these institutions was done at a brief ceremony held at the premises of the bank's headquarters along Kairaba Avenue, on Friday December 14, 2007.

Speaking at the ceremony, Olalekan Sanusi, the managing director, GTBank (Gambia) Ltd, said that it took his institution about five years - since its inception, to assume a direct agent status, which is a requirement for one to appoint their own sub-agents. He said that sub-agents are important for the effective service delivery at the grass roots level. The newly appointed sub-agents include: BLE, Amana, Olympic Travels, Malang Forex Bureau, which is said to be a long time partner of the bank, and Best Rates.

As customers of GTB, Sanusi stated, these institutions would enjoy certain benefits, among them staff training at no cost, as well as other customer-banker relations benefits not neccessarily fit for open discussion. He futher urged the new partners to feel free in expressing their concerns with the GTB management whenever they have problems.

Peter Sajor, the group head of settlement, GTB, thanked the newcomers for the confidence bestowed on the GTB. He assured them of the bank's unflinching support in both technical and operational forms. He concluded by challenging them to initiate and promote other products.

Present at the ceremony were Bolaji Ayodele, the general manager, GTB, other senior members of the Western Union team of GTBank, as well as representatives from the five sub-agents, who signed on behalf of their respective management.
