In its strive to enable all Gambians to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Local Government Elections, the Independent Electoral Commission in accordance with Section 35 and 38 of the Elections Decree of 1996 (Decree No. 78) conducted a month-long Transfer and Replacement of Voting Cards; which was concluded on Friday 30th November 2007.

502 voting cards were replaced and 343 voters transferred their voting cards.

Below is a breakdown per administrative area.

Banjul Administrative Area: 63 transfers and 122 replacements.

Kanifing Administrative Area: 136 transfers and 175 replacements.

Brikama Administrative Area: 60 transfers and 75 replacements.

Kerewan Administrative Area: 32 transfers and 45 replaements.

Mansakonko Administrative Area: 4 transfers and 29 replacements.

Janjanbureh Administrative Area: 36 transfers and 37 replacements.

Basse Administrative Area: 12 transfers and 19 replacements.

The general public is hereby encouraged to check with the Regional Offices within their administrative area to confirm the state of their registration.
