YOUNG OBSERVER-The three illiterates and the policeman

Friday, January 11, 2008
Once upon a time, there were three men who had never been to school.  These men were just groundnut farmers, and they have had an enormous harvest, when they sold their harvest, they had huge amounts of money.

Interestingly, when they came to the decision  on how to spend the money a problem arose.  One of them suggested that since they had been working throughout the year, they need to spend the money on something very useful.

So the idea was to buy clothes, shoes, caps etc, for each of them.  In reply by one of the other two, he said "We should also know that since we are illerates and we are to cross a river, where we will meet white men at the river, we need to learn how to speak English.

By doing this, it will help us to cross easily without any difficulties.  When they arrived at the river side, accidentally there was a case which led to one man loosing his life.  Then the police asked who killed him?  One of them suddenly said, "We killed him". The police asked for the reason why they killed the man.

"The police said, you people are under arrest" the other one laughed and said, 'we don't care."  This led them to a big problem.  That is why it is important for one to be educated.
