africa » gambia
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
The ten-team pre-season tournament organised by the Kanifing Municipal Sports Committee will heat up today with two fixtures at stake.

In today's crackers, the Division  Two giants, Brikama United, will lock horns with Africell-Sait Matty FC at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Bakau United and First Division newcomers, Samger, will square-up against each other in their Group B opener at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

On Thursday, Steve Biko will take on SK East United at the East Mini-stadium, while Ham Ham face Tallinding United at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on the same day.

The clubs are using the pre-season tournament as a warm-up for the 2008 league season which is expected to commence in February 2008.

The ten sides have been paired in two groups of five. Group A features Africell/Sait Matty, Ham Ham FC, Tallinding United, Kaira Silo and Brikama United.

Samger and Bakau United have been pitted in Group B alongside Serrekunda East, Nema United and the relegated Bakau giants, Steve Biko.
Two venues, Serrekunda East and West Mini-stadiums, have been identified to host the matches.
