German project in Jiffin Village

africa » gambia
Wednesday, January 09, 2008
"Justice for Africa", a non-governmental international charitable organisation based in Germany has extended its work to The Gambia. Speaking in an interview with the Daily Observer, Dwight Cosah, director and founder of the organisation said that the initiative came as a result of his visit to The Gambia a few years back.

According to him, during his visit, he had the opportunity to interact with many people who shared their views with him. Since then, the project has successfully built an Arabic school in Jiffin Jarra, which has been serving the surrounding communities. He added that his organisation provided all the necessary materials for the construction of the school.

When asked what motivated him to venture into sponsoring  Arabic education, he said that this was because The Gambia is a predominately Muslim country and that was what the villagers wanted.  According to him, before achieving his desire to build a school in Jiffin, several meetings were held with with the elders of the village to pursuade them in making sure that the project was realised.

On efforts to make sure that  projects come true, Mr Cosah said in Germany, they organised concerts and reggae dances and the funds generated from these events are used  to sponsor projects. Mr Cosah, finally, expressed his delight with the Gambian leader and his entire  people for giving him an enabling environment to run his projects.

When contacted for further information, Alhagie Wandipha Jawara, Alkalo of Jiffin Village confirmed that the school is in operation, and said that the intervention of 'Justice For Africa' in his community helps to maintain and refurbish the school.
