Honorable Muhammeh M5 Jallow, National Assembly member (NAM) for Upper Fulladu West, has praised the British government through the UK plenipotentiary in Banjul for its contribution to the country's development efforts, as remonstrated in the assistance being given to Bansang Hospital.

In a marathon interview with this reporter at his residence in Abuko, the Upper Fulladu legislator said the British are doing a lot to improve medical condition at the Bansang Hospital, especially at the children's ward. He said this constitutes a real boost to the health delivery services and thanked the British High Commissioner for leading the Rotary Club of Banjul to make several donations.

Hon Jallow said the "vacuum created by slavery through exploration and expansionism during the colonial era needs to be filled".

However, M5, as he is fondly called, implored the British government to explore possibilities of helping the country in the area of electricity, a good road network and good water supply system to alleviate poverty.

Commenting on his 40-day tour of his constituency, Honourable Jallow said the exercise was in compliance with the Parliamentarian Act which requires members of the National Assembly to always stay in touch with their constituency.

Noting that the tour provided him with an opportunity to meet and discuss problems of his people, Hon disclosed that a string of problems revolving around income at family level, the school bills of children and their means of transportation to and from school, horticultural farming, skills training for women and girls, all cropped up as major constraints. He called on development partners and the donor community to support his constituency in addressing the problems.
