APRC unshakable in Nianija - Hon Seedy Njie

africa » gambia » central river region
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

In the countdown to the upcoming December 18 by-election in Nianija constituency, Central River Region, Honorable Seedy SK Njie, the nominated youth National Assembly member, has expressed optimism about APRC's position in regaining the Nianija seat, as his party is "unshakable" in the said constituency.

The National Assembly member, a native of the area, was speaking in the wake of some speculations that some opposition parties in the country had already expressed interest in vying for the Nianija seat.

Honorable Njie reiterated the fact that Nianija is a stronghold of the APRC, and that as such, his people would never relent in their commitment.

"Any opposition party that contests the seat against an APRC-sponsored candidate will be greatly humiliated come December 18.  In fact, the opposition will lose their deposit," Honorable Njie stressed.

On the current situation in Nianija, Honorable Njie indicated that 13 aspirants had already shown their interest to contest under the APRC ticket. He noted that sensitisation activities about the significance of the by-election are also being carried out by the APRC executives in the constituency.

"The people of Nianija will, at the end of the day, vote for a candidate who is competent, determined, patriotic and is ready to serve his people well," he emphasised, while calling on the 13 aspirants to be loyal to the APRC and recognise the successful candidate.

The NAM then called on the people of Nianija to nurture unity and shune politics of violence and hatred.
